The Fulbright Program: How it Works

This is a really cool video about the Fulbright Program. It explains quite nicely how it began, how it works, how it's funded, how Fulbrighters are chosen and the global overview of its mission and impact. This is an amazing and transformative program...watch and see!

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. Department of State’s flagship international education and exchange program. Learn more about how mutual understanding through people-to-people exchanges can lead to a more peaceful and prosperous world.

For some insight on some of "what it takes to become a Fulbrighter," or in this case, what it took for Adrienne to become a Fulbrighter, please visit my post: Paving the Way. Way to go Fulbright!!

Hot off the Press. . .

University of Salzburg 2012 International Report

In November 2011, I was nominated by a selection committee of the University of Salzburg, Office of the Rectorate, for the International Report celebrating the 50 Year re-establishment of the University. The four-page spread was a brief portrait about me and my experience as a US exchange student. What a fun afternoon of "photoshooting" (yes, that's what they called it)!

It was released in print a week ago, June 2012. Here is a draft of the portrait just so you have a sneak peek. It's only a draft...and sorry, yes, it's in German! You can either translate via the "Select Language" button at the top right corner of the page, use the link in the "News" column on the right, or via cut and paste method of your choice!

"And it changed my life", erzählt sie von ihrer ersten Reise außerhalb der USA.
Note to self:
You get very little studying done on a secluded beach on the island of Krk,Croatia!
By the way, there is sooo much more to tell you...and as you might expect, things are moving quite fast as I wrap up this intense Fulbright year. I have not neglected to write, seriously, I have many "drafts in my folder for you!" However, it has proven futile for me to keep up with the pace of some of these exciting stories, as I wrap things up in the next weeks.

I will need to focus on one last trip to Vienna for a going away Heurigen with my Fulbright colleagues, several exams and projects, then packing and moving home to the US. So naturally, I will take a break (although who would notice with my infrequent posts).

I've decided I will spend the summer recapping...
Wolfgangsee on a relaxing weekend tour of Austria

...so that I can let you in on so many of the special moments I haven't had a chance to share from this experience.

...and so I can spend time to reflect and enjoy recalling some of these times in the context of home.
I know that is probably a cop-out as far as a blog is concerned, but it would be a great benefit to me, since I will be facing the inevitable and impending "Fulbright-Hangover" and would probably enjoy the catharsis. LOL
Thank you for following. If you stop by, feel free to leave a comment or reaction, so I know you were here!
I hope you will stay tuned...there's more to come!
